What Struck in '58
Published: May 3rd, 2013

There will be a presentation of a new play about Mine Mill and the 1958 strike, 7 P.M. on May 9, at the Jubilee Centre on Applegrove, behind the courthouse, pay-what-you-can. This will not be a fully-staged production but a script-in-hand performance by professional actors.

The writer, Rick Duthie, is originally from Sudbury and is coming from Calgary for this reading. Feedback will be appreciated to help develop the script further. Members of Mine Mill are encouraged to attend, as they would be the perfect audience to provide that feedback - especially those who lived that time and the strike.

Matthew Heiti is organizing the readings that this play will be part of. He can be reached at matthew@patthedog.org or 705-207-7849.

Here is Matthew's brief description of the play: "A sweeping epic about the first Inco Strike, Duthie's play is a love letter to a forgotten past."
