Newsletter - April 2017
We have bad news again. Our manager has given his notice and will be leaving around the middle of the month. I hope we will have someone to replace him and that things will go well. We are also waiting to go back to bargaining, hopefully it will be soon. We hope to reach a good contract for everyone. I will let you know when I find out.
Newsletter - January 2017
We have a new manager. I hope he will be good for us. We are still working short and hopefully things will change soon. We are going back to the bargaining table on January 16th and 17th. We are hoping for the moon, but we'll try to get the best contract that we can. The New Year is here so many be we'll have great changes.
Newsletter - December 2016
Another year has come and gone and winter has arrived. The holidays are upon us once again. We are going to see a change in management. We are expecting our new manager on Monday, December 5, 2016.

We sure had a nice summer this year. The residents also enjoyed the great weather. They went for walks more often this year and also sat in the gazebo. They had quite a group which I hadn't seen before. They really enjoyed themselves.

We're in May already and time passes by so fast. I'm looking for some sun, it just seems to make people happier. Our Manager, Brenden is leaving for a better job and to be closer to his family. We wish him all the best. It will be a big change and they say change is good. I guess we’ll find out. We are still working short but two new employees are starting work this week.

We've been having a rough time at work. We've been working short all the time; hopefully it will get better soon. One of our co-workers is coming back from sick leave and that will help.

Another month has gone by and the weather is just crazy. We have not time to adjust as it changes every few days. But then, we are getting spoiled getting this kind of temperature at this time of year.

I hope you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year with your family and friends. We are in a new year and I wish you all a good year and good things happen to each and every one of us. The residents enjoyed having family and some went out for a visit with their loved ones. They also had different activities which they had fun at.

As every other year, we are working short right now because our students are back in school. The manager is interviewing and hopefully things will get better. We do have three new employees and we hope they will stay.

Spring is finally here and the warmer weather is coming. Everyone is ready for the nice hot sun. I found that winter just didn’t want to leave. I was off work for quite a while but I am now back. I was happy to see my co-workers and the residents.
Tentative Agreement Reached
A tentative agreement has been reached. A meeting will be held at Cousin Vinny's in Hanmer on December 21st, 2014 @ 2:30pm and 6:30pm.

Once again the summer is almost finished and will be over far too soon. Our children are back in school and the parents are happy. The cold weather is coming and that, I can wait for. I hope you all had a good summer.

We are almost at the end of another year. The cold weather has arrived (that's for sure!!!). Unfortunately, the residents are feeling it but they’re still starting to get ready for the holidays. All in all, everyone is trying to get ready for the holidays; decorating, shopping, etc. It is all a rush to get things done.

The days are getting longer and this is a sign that spring is on the way. Everyone is anxious for winter to be over. We all need spring so that it will cheer us up. I am ready for the hot weather.

We have been having really cold weather and I hope the warmer temperatures come along. We are no in February and I am looking forward to hotter temperatures. Hopefully, we will have an early spring...
Ratification of Collective Agreement - January 15, 2013
A ratification vote was held last evening for the members of Mine Mill Local 598/CAW that work at Nutra 2000 in Val Caron, Ontario. 100% of the members accepted the deal put forward by their bargaining committee.
Newsletter - September 2011
It's been a while since I could attend our last newsletter because of everyone going on holidays. There were no meetings for the summer. I was off sick, but I am now on modified. I hope everyone took time for holidays, which everyone deserves. The weather was excellent; it was a very hot summer.

It's been a while since I could attend our Unit Chair meetings. I have been off work because of an accident, but I am now back to work. Winter has come and gone and now we are looking forward to a nice hot summer.

The holidays have come and gone. I am sure everyone enjoyed themselves and we were very busy. I know I was on super speed during the holidays. I really enjoyed being with my family and that is the best.

Since my last newsletter, we had our quarterly meeting. Michelle Labbe was not available because she was off on compassionate leave.

Since our last meeting, we had our quarterly meeting on March 19th. It was a good meeting. We discussed how to make our Union stronger.
Newsletter - February 2010
Since our last meeting, there hasn't been too much happening. Xstrata Nickel and Mine Mill Local 598/CAW have reached a tentative agreement, which everybody is glad of. The ratification vote was held on February 2nd, 2010 and the members voted 93% in favour of accepting the new collective agreement.

Once a month Mine Mill 598/CAW Unit Chair persons meet.  I attended the February 2nd meeting and gave a workplace report. It was interesting to hear what issues other members are facing and the assistance and recommendations provided on how to address their concerns.
