As we’ve all seen, this winter’s weather has been a mixed bag. Planning a fishing derby for Family Day was something we just weren’t too sure would happen this year. But lo’ and behold the winter weather returned in time for a fantastic day on the ice!
The winds blew, the snow fell, and the ice froze; providing the inches we needed to hold the derby and an ice-skating rink!!
The members and their families enjoyed a fun filled day of ice fishing, skating and indoor games for the kids - needless to say the Minnow Races were a huge hit!!
When a warmup was needed from the cold, chili, chicken soup and hotdogs were on the menu. A warm lunch and good conversation shared with friends and family after an active day of winter activities was just what we needed to top the day off!
We want to thank all the members and staff who volunteered their time to make this event such a success!! who without we would not have been able to put on this fun filled day, and the donations that we received from business in our communities.

Winners of the Adult Derby are:
1st place was a 14-inch Bass by Michelle Danis
2nd place with a 13-inch Bass by Tyson Wade
3rd place due to a draw won by Sean Daen
For the children’s Derby sadly, no fish were caught all prizes were done on a draw base.
